Campus Safety is located on the ground level of The Annex Building on the perimeter road. Our officers provide the ¿ìè¶ÌÊÓƵwith 24-hour patrol of Skidmore’s campus. Numerous emergency boxes are located across campus and may be identified by their blue lights. They contain call buttons that automatically dial Campus Safety.
The Department of Campus Safety routinely dispatches Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and local fire and police departments to campus for emergencies. Several members of the Campus Safety team are certified Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) who respond and work hand-in-hand with these city, state, and county emergency personnel. Take a moment to program the Campus Safety emergency telephone number (518-580-5566) into your cell phone before an emergency occurs.
Fire alarm systems and fire fighting equipment are in the residence halls and apartments for the occupants' protection. Tampering with or misuse of this equipment is prohibited and is in violation of the law. The Department of Campus Safety provides mandatory fire/safety orientations to groups staying on campus.
¿ìè¶ÌÊÓƵ strictly prohibits the use of candles, incense, smoking of any kind or any open flames inside the residential halls and apartments. Firecrackers, gasoline, candles, incense, halogen lights/lamps, or other highly combustible items are not permitted in residence halls or apartments. Food preparation is permitted in residence hall kitchenettes. The cooking of food and the use of electrical appliances (i.e. toaster ovens, microwave ovens, heating coils, George Foreman grills, etc.) are prohibited in dorm rooms and apartment bedrooms.
