Google , and you'll find a string of glowing reviews—and you'll find a growing list of awards. The Amazon Studios show, which stars Michael Zegen '01, just nabbed the Golden Globe for and picked up the Critics' Choice Award for . Zegen, a theater major at Skidmore, stars as Midge Maisel's (Rachel Brosnahan) wearisome husband and aspiring comic Joel Maisel who, as fans of the show know, turns out to be nowhere near as marvelous as she.

While Zegen plays a hopeful comic in the show, in real life he's has been honing his comedic skills since his time at Skidmore, where he co-founded the sketch comedy group The Sketchies and performed in the , founded in 1989 by another alum, David Miner '91 (Parks and Recreation, 30 Rock, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Master of None).

In , Zegen shared that "I've always been acting. Since I was a little kid, I've always wanted to be an actor." Today, there's no doubt he's made those dreams come true. He's performed in A View from the Bridge on Broadway, acted in films including Frances Ha and Brooklyn, and starred in other hit shows such as Boardwalk Empire, Girls, and The Walking Dead (with yet another Skidmore alum, ).

In light of all this success, Zegen has publicly acknowledged that his latest endeavor, Mrs. Maisel, is "something special." We have to agree. And the good news for Joel and Midge enthusiasts? The show has already been given the green light for a second season.
